Burlesque Dance (All Levels)

Frivolous and fun, classy, well... maybe not always classy, but definitely stylish, this class takes you through a sensual warm up while teaching techniques and "moves" that give any style of dance a taste of sensuality and a strong sense of self confidence on and off the stage. There will be times when props such as boas, chairs or fans for instance may be used in this class to enhance the "Burlesque" experience.

Our burlesque classes range from styles of the golden age of burlesque from the 1920’s to 1960’s, to more modern interpretations and fusions with contemporary styles. Learn the dance and movement of "burlesque" while exploring your personal sensual expression. Dancers may (and are encouraged to!) find themselves developing an alternate ‘burlesque’ persona... We will be working on the movement and performance personality of the individual as much as possible while learning simple dance steps, arm movements and playing with attitude & performance. We will dance barefoot in class but will discuss shoes and use them occasionally as well. The instructor will give sufficient notice if props, etc, will be used in class.
