Sarasota,
FL
Author Maureen Earl was born in Cairo, Egypt, and worked as a journalist and Emmy-winning documentary film maker. She will be in Sarasota in December and will give a reading from her book. Arlene Hamburger will lead the discussion.
The novel presents a fictionalized version of a true story -- the cruel and tragic internment by the British of a boatload of Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany who were captured as they tried to land in Haifa and sent to a prison camp.
Refreshments will be served.
