In the 1930s, work began on a canal that would cut through the Florida peninsula. Learn about the battle fought by environmentalists and developers and the final halt to construction in 1971. Find out why this project is still controversial today. Steven Noll, Ph.D., teaches at the University of Florida. David Tegeder, Ph.D., is a professor of American history at Santa Fe College in Gainesville. Both earned their doctorate from Florida. Followed by book signing. Refreshments provided.
