When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the outlawed, but no less determined, masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion--a disbanded group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers--Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity--but who is watching the Watchmen?

Movie theaters showing Watchmen near Tampa,FL:
This movie got old and long quick. The female costar does not belong in this movie. I think they could have done better. I just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Very stupid.
WOW!!! I have got to weigh in on this one!
In my opinion, this film was AMAZING! I was thrilled and engrossed from the beginning. I’ve already seen it three times. My best description is a juxtaposition of X-men and Sin City set in an alternate reality where Nixon never got caught… And believe it or not, I never even heard of The Watchmen before this movie. My bad
As for the ‘horrible’ male nudity and sex scene, why is it even in the same sentence as the ‘horrific violence’?!?! The violence I’ll give, was graphic and gory but unfortunately, still a pale reflection of humanities’ truly evil depths.
The nudity and sex… try watching ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ and then tell me which movie was really pushing the envelope. The appearance of Dr. Manhattan (WOW) was so bright and blurry; I’ve seen more nudity on Clearwater Beach from grandpas in small Speedos. (OUCH! BAD memories!!) I jest, but remember, humans made the clothes to cover the body. It was the Creator in glory that made the bodies.
And the ‘sex scene’? Ooh, ahh do declare, I saw no sex, but a love scene that made my heart flutter and my breath catch. Whew, I nearly had the vapors! And you say he’s a local gentleman? Available perhaps? Is it warm in here? ;-P
This movie was horribly conceived. Liberal propaganda, horrific violence, a real life sex scene (showoing the whole act except the actual penetration), and full frontal male nudity throughout the entire movie makes me wonder why it is only rated "R" and not "X". For 3 intermidably long hours, you'd think it would have a better story line and acting. I'm extremely disappointed in Mr. Wilson, John Wilson's (Fox13 personality and anchor) son, who did the actual sex scene. He should have stuck with theatre. I do NOT recommend this movie, either to see in the theater or rent the dvd. Awful!

Anyone who has attempted to bring comic book writer Alan Moore's work to the screen has encountered difficulties. Moore himself now routinely asks that his name not be included on the credits for films based on his work. (Full review)
