An English aristocrat inherits an Australian ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver to drive 2,000-head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

Movie theaters showing Australia near Tampa,FL:
It might have been the fact that Australia was sold as a romantic adventure that perhaps disappointed audiences somewhat, because ultimately the movie is much more than that. It is a lesson not only on history of a continent that has seen some horrific and cruel things in its history, but on what it means to truly love. The movie can be divided into two parts, the first one filled with thrill that will keep you at the edge of your seat, and the second one which deals more with the development of the characters as they are faced with adversity, all to conclude with a bittersweet taste. The movie is good, with the outstanding direction of Baz Luhrmann and the excellent performances of Kidman and Jackman (and newcomer Walters). But don’t get me wrong, the movie has its flaws – clichés and scenes that were unnecessary or misplaced, but all in all it provides high-quality entertainment.
